General requirements for prospective adoptive parents

• They shall be eligible to adopt under their national law;

• They shall not suffer from life-threatening illnesses, or chronic and contagious diseases;

• They shall not be deprived of their parental rights;

• They shall not be convicted;

• They shall be married when they wish to adopt together

• They shall present all necessary documents, required under the Bulgarian legislation
